Avengers: Infinity War

If you’ve seen the movie, you know the ending is devastatingly sad. So for our main-on-end title, we chose to do something quiet to give viewers the chance to process what they had seen.  At the end of this very minimal sequence, we turn the title to dust, a visual representation of Thanos merciless action.

Back To The Roots

In the way-back of once-upon-a-time film making, a movie’s title sequence was a quiet passage: A place to credit the makers and stars, to listen to the orchestral score, and, to whatever you had going on in your head. The main-on-end (MOE) titles we created for Marvel Studios Avengers: The Infinity Wars, are just that. They had to be.

At the end of a story where we have just watched our heroes turned to dust, we needed to fade to black, providing a quiet coda for viewers to process a whirl of stunned thoughts.

The credits roll slowly, classic white EB Garamond Medium type on a black screen, pacing slowly with the somber closing music from composer Alan Silvestri.  Each name has its due, finishing with a final, quiet flourish: The main-title card appears in solid type, and then, dissolves as the heroes had, into puffs of dust that disappear into space.
