Brooklyn Nine-Nine
We are huge fans of writers/producers Dan Goor & Michael Schur. So when they called us to make the titles for what would become their Emmy-Award and Golden Globe winning comedy cop show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, we were over the moon.
We are huge fans of writers/producers Dan Goor & Michael Shur. So when they called us to make the titles for what would become their Emmy-Award and Golden Globe winning comedy cop show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, we were absolutely thrilled.
With SNL alum Andy Samberg and Emmy-winner Andre Braugher leading a precinct of unlikely cohorts through hilarious misadventures in crime-solving, we wanted our lead-in sequence to flash on cop shows from the ‘70s, with a big nod and satirical wink.
More than a throwback, our editorial style and contemporary graphics (big block lettering and diagonal banners,) juxtapositioned with the right music, work perfectly to set up the story.
Just as iconic main titles of days past did, we took the opportunity to sum up each character with a freeze frame moment.
Our sequence must have struck a chord with Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans because we have run across dozens of fan recreations. Not only do the fans make these with their own footage (our favorites being the middle schoolers) but they have even taken other shows and movies and “Brooklyn-99-ified” them.
Here are some of our favorites. (It was hard to choose–seriously!)
But there’s more! If you think those recreations are something else, you’ll love that people have also created tutorials on how to DIY these recreations.
Pretty amazing, right? We have run across a few of these, but nothing beats @NotianSans energy! Here is a link to this tutorial on youTube.
If you dig in and make your own version of our Brooklyn Nine-Nine titles, be sure to send them to us. We love to like and share.
